Maybe it is because they remind me of my grandmother, but I have always loved pearls. I am thrilled they have popped up as a major trend recently. I have bought shoes, tops and now even jeans all adorned with pearls. Some pieces are very feminine, as to be expected, while others are a little edgier like these amazing jeans from Zara with torn knees and frayed edges. Whatever your style, you can’t go wrong with a little pearl embellishment.
As a jewelry designer, this is a fun trend for me that can easily be incorporated into new designs. Often pearls are seen as preppy and everyone seems to have a strand or two lying around. However, being able to make pearl pieces a bit more playful by adding different twists such as drops, playing with different sizes and colors and adding different vintage embellishments is a fun departure from just a typical pearl strand.
