Hi! I’m Jen, I’m the girl with the necklace, and the girl who probably made the necklace…and the earrings, the bracelet, and the purse!
I’m the designer and owner of Madame Mathilde Jewelry and Handbags. Though, my most challenging and rewarding job is being mother to my daughter, Kingsley, who turned five in August, my son, Ford, who will be three in November and our latest addition, Tanner, who was born in May. I graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked in the fashion industry before starting my own business in 2009. My husband and I lived in New York before moving out to the burbs six years ago and now couldn’t think of a better place to call home and a better life we could have created here in Katonah.
While it may appear I am painting the perfect picture, I constantly feel like my life is spiraling out of control. I say this in the most positive way. With two kids, a business, a dog, a husband, a home, and trying to have a social life it is hard to stay sane and even harder to look like you have it all together, but I try. Oh do I try! I love to get dressed every morning and throw on a statement necklace with my t-shirt and jeans, or tassel earrings with a chunky sweater as I run out the door to take the kids to school. I love finding cute little bowls at a flea market or at Target on a Tuesday so I can pretend dessert comes right out of a Pinterest post. I never think less is more, though with age and moving out of Manhattan I have learned how to tone things down (slightly.)
I am starting this blog because I want to be able to share my love of jewelry, love of clothes, love of finding a bargain, love of antiquing, love of entertaining, love of home decorating, love of travel and my love of all things kids with you. I want to be able to share with you why I think nothing should have to be saved for a special occasion. I always have encouraged my customers to wear my rhinestone jewelry as everyday pieces just as I do. And I hope I can inspire some of you to live your life as I am aspiring to live mine. Don’t hold back; use the good china, wear bold jewelry, take that trip, and try to wear something fabulous and fun while doing it.
I hope you will follow me in this crazy, hectic journey, and maybe just maybe this spiral will start to resemble more of a graceful twirl.
