Valentine’s Day can be such a fun time of year, especially when you have kids or even better when it can also be used as an excuse to spoil yourself. For many years I put expectations on my husband to plan a night out, or even better I expected him to use his mind reading skills and come up with a gift for me. There was always so much pressure involved and never ended up being all that it was cracked up to be despite all valiant efforts. Crowded restaurants with prixe fix menus, bodega roses and chocolates from CVS really aren’t all that glamorous. Now that our focus is all on Kingsley and Ford, February 14th involves making sure the kids are wearing red to school that day, cutting their sandwiches into hearts, making sure that they wrote their names on enough cards to pass out at school and spoiling them with way too many cute heart items from the dollar section at Target. As for dinner, it will likely be me making whatever we have in the house or possibly even ordering sushi takeout and arranging in the shape of hearts. Knowing how excited they will be to celebrate is what makes Valentine’s now so much fun. I also have learned over the years that every once in awhile you need to treat yourself to something pretty and I think Valentines Day is the perfect holiday to do this. With Valentine’s Day only a week away, here are few of my favorite fun items for you or another special lady in your life. Go ahead, you deserve it!
