It is hard to believe Christmas has come and gone already. This is the first year in many we are spending the holidays with my family in Florida. We flew down early on the 23rd, and when I say early I mean early, we left our house at 3:30am! It may have been insane, but Kingsley and Ford thankfully were so excited about going to see Grandma and Poppy that they were wide eyed and full of excitement the whole morning. I anticipated a series of meltdowns for sure, but to my pleasant surprise they stayed entertained on the plane with a bunch of coloring books and those little crayon, paper and sticker packs you can find in the dollar section at Target. We even made it to the beach that day by noon and out for dinner. We all crashed that night, but I came to the conclusion that when it comes to sun, swimming and socializing we Niles can be very resilient.
Christmas was perfect, and the kids could not have been happier. I had some hesitation at first about being away from home on Christmas, but the kids knew Santa would find them in Florida (and judging by the amount of loot we will be shipping home, Santa certainly got the memo we were not in Katonah this year!)
During the next week my parents’ club, which gets packed over Christmas break, puts on different activities for the kids each day and different parties each night. Kingsley received a slew of party dresses for Christmas (in retrospect my mom and I realized that even the most clothes-crazy 4 year old gets a little burnt out after opening up the 5th present of clothing, especially when her brother is opening all toys… oops!) I treated myself to a few fun holiday outfits as well to wear while on vacation. This sparkly dress I must say is my favorite. It somehow manages to blend that vacation party feel with a sophisticated look, by blending together colorful embroidered flowers with perfectly semi matted sequins. It is less than $230 and looks way more expensive than that. I chose to pair it with my new fun Madame Mathilde Yellow Bobble Earrings. The pop of color helps bring out the color in the embroidered flowers and makes the whole look a lot more festive and fun. It is also not a maternity dress (thank God!) so I plan to be able to get lots of wear out of it post baby bump.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying the last week of 2016!
