While I feel strongly about finding cute clothes that are non-maternity, but still fit a growing bump, it really is inevitable that you will have to purchase maternity pants at some point during your pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Kingsley, I was less informed and felt like I had to go straight to A Pea in the Pod where I was coerced into purchasing three pairs of AG Maternity Jeans. Really? $600 worth of jeans that I would only be wearing for the next six months? It seems absurd right? Well I went along with it and said I would invest in them and justified it by saying I would wear it the next time I got pregnant as well. Fast forward two years later when I became pregnant with Ford, the jeans didn’t hold up that well. Each band ended up tearing in spots because of constantly pulling them up, and now on my third pregnancy two pairs are in the trash and one is holding on by a thread. I realize now it wasn’t worth the high price tag.
I finally feel like I have a better grasp on what is available in the maternity world now that I am on my third pregnancy. Wow! I have spent almost 3 out of the last 5 years pregnant. Expert status now? possibly…. There are great companies like Asos, H&M and even Old Navy that have so many cute things that won’t break the bank, and they have held up surprisingly well. In the past I got so caught up in the whole experience at the nice maternity stores (don’t get me wrong I sometimes still feel like Rosie Pope knows all and that buying her dresses were worth every penny even though this go around they are all still in the attic), but now I am taking a more practical approach.
So what pants am I wearing today you might ask? I am wearing $40 H&M maternity skinny jeans that I believe I even was able to score at 30% off! Below you can find some of my favorite maternity jean picks all under $100. I have included a few different band styles. This is often a personal preference for what is more comfortable for you. Personally, I have found the full coverage band to work best all the way up to the end. I do like the lower styles for the beginning of my pregnancy so that there is no unsightly band line, but have found that I feel like they are going to fall off once my belly gets big and would rather that bump be confined. And now, the real countdown begins only a month more to go!
