We have officially started our summer family vacation. Yay!!! We head to Block Island on Monday for the week and this weekend we are in Southampton for a couple of days before visiting family in Rhode Island for one night. Something about vacation mode with the kids makes us more relaxed and everyone has a better time. Last night we were able to leave Katonah a little earlier than normal and make it out to classic car night at one of our favorite little beach huts. The live music, car show and even the long lines for food just worked out. Anyone with young kids knows it can often feel like a roll of the dice with taking them out to eat. You worry whether or not they will freak out when the food is taking too long or if they will be too loud and disrupt everyone eating around us. Maybe it was our relaxed attitude that made the kids more chill, but they were okay with not eating until 8:30 and staying out past 9. I did not have to even pull out “eggy shows” for back up (if you have a kid under the age of 5 you likely know what I am referring to, if not google egg show and you soon will. They are totally bizarre and somehow absolutely entertaining for young kids.) Kingsley and Ford were incredibly well behaved and sat at the table dancing and clapping. It was the perfect night to start out our family vacation. I woke up really appreciating my husband and my children and the time we get to all spend together. It can be really tough being at home with young kids all day and sometimes I feel like I take our time together for granted, which is why starting off vacation on the right foot couldn’t have been anymore rewarding.
Last night, I wore ripped jeans and my new favorite off the shoulder top. The details of this shirt are great: the back splits open and there are little ties at the sleeve. Its perfect for a casual night out. I decided to wear my new Madame Mathilde Tassel earrings that I had actually made that day. Believe it or not my very trendy mom told me my Tassels needed to be longer! I pondered it for a day or two wondering if my customers would want such a statement earring and decided to take the plunge with some extra long tassels. I think it paid off! I don’t think I will take these off all vacation. They are actually very light and I have been getting a ton of compliments.
I hope you all have an amazing weekend! I look forward to sharing the rest of our vacation with you soon!
